Daniel Alfredsson Steps Up to Help Teen Suicide Prevention

Daniel Alfredsson forgot about his troubles for a day Tuesday to help youngsters with their own.

The Ottawa Senators captain has had a difficult season offensively while the NHL club is mired in a lengthy losing skid, including 10 straight losses. But he set aside his own burden to help promote Do It For Daron Day.

The fundraiser and awareness effort aimed to help prevent teenage suicide. It was held in memory of Ottawa assistant coach Luke Richardson's 14-year-old daughter Daron, who took her own life in November. Participants wore purple in her memory.
