Kurt Warner: Steelers Should Be OK if Maurkice Pouncey Can't Play

Kurt WarnerSteelers Pro Bowl center Maurkice Pouncey arrived in Dallas on crutches, and his status for Sunday's Super Bowl is in doubt. The natural discussion among pundits and fans alike has been to question how Ben Roethlisberger and the Pittsburgh offense will fare without their All-Pro center when they line up against the Packers on Sunday.

Among those who believe the Steelers will be just fine without Pouncey is Kurt Warner, the Super Bowl XXXIV MVP.

"I think it's more of a comfort level, knowing how good he is and what he's done all year," Warner said of Pouncey not being available on Sunday, adding, "I think there's enough time to get comfortable with a different center and how they do things physically."

Warner was lucky enough to have second-year pro Lyle Sendlein under center for 16 regular season and four playoff games during his Cardinals' Super Bowl XLIII run. Given, Warner thinks Roethlisberger need not even let the loss of Pouncey cross his mind.

"You can't ever think about the guys up in front of you anyway," he said. "Once you start doing that you don't play the game very well."
