Filed under: Blue Jays, MLB MilestonesBOSTON (AP) -- Jose Bautista is the new Toronto Blue Jays season home run king.
Bautista hit his 48th homer of the year on Friday night against the Boston Red Sox. That broke the franchise mark of 47 set by George Bell in 1987.
Bautista's two-run shot in the sixth inning cleared the Green Monster and landed in the Monster seats. A fan threw it back on the field, and the Red Sox relayed it back to the Blue Jays dugout.
Bautista's 48 homers leads the majors. It's the most in the AL since Alex Rodriguez hit 54 in 2007. Permalink | Email this | Linking Blogs | Comments
