San Diego Chargers Week 2 Wrap Up

Filed under: Chargers, AFC WestScore: Chargers 38, Jaguars 13

The Storyline: The Chargers' defense gave the offense one scoring opportunity after another by forcing six turnovers, and San Diego pulled away for a 38-13 win Sunday over the Jacksonville Jaguars. The six turnovers by Jacksonville tied a team record and led to 17 of San Diego's points.

Key Moment: Chargers cornerback Antoine Cason ended Jacksonville's first possession with an interception, starting the cascade of turnovers by the Jaguars, including four interceptions in all by quarterback David Garrard. Cason, who added a second interception and forced a fumble later in the game, made a leaping interception when Garrard tried to thread the pass downfield between two defenders.

Key Stat: The Chargers scored 17 points off Jacksonville's turnovers, and the passing of Philip Rivers played a huge role in San Diego's ability to capitalize offensively. He finished 22 of 29 passing for 334 yards passing with three touchdowns. He had a completion rate of 75.9 percent while finishing with his 16th career 300-yard passing game. Permalink | Email this | Linking Blogs | Comments
