Filed under: Titans, AFC SouthIn one sense, Chris Johnson was shut down on Sunday.
But in another sense -- a very real sense -- the Tennessee Titans and Johnson will tell you he was oh-so-close to having a typical game.
Johnson, the Titans' running back who entered the game with 12 consecutive 100-yard rushing games, rushed for just 34 yards on 16 carries in a 19-11 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers in Nashville Sunday, ending his streak two games shy of the NFL record for consecutive 100-yard rushing games.
"It came to an end, but the most disappointing thing was not getting the victory today," Johnson said afterward. "That is more important than anything."
But Johnson also had an 85-yard touchdown run called back because of a holding penalty in the second quarter, and without that penalty, Johnson's game is similar to his performance in the opener. Against Oakland last week, he rushed for 142 yards on 27 carries with a 76-yard touchdown.
