Chuck Greenberg Thrilled to Be in Charge of 'Sleeping Giant' Rangers

by John HickeyFiled under: Rangers, MLB Biz, Sports Business and MediaSEATTLE -- When Chuck Greenberg first stepped forward in an attempt to buy the Texas Rangers, he said he told himself this was the best opportunity for franchise ownership in the major leagues.

He's had reason to revise and amend that earlier opinion.

Greenberg, whose bid to buy the Rangers was sealed in the first week of August, now sees it somewhat differently.

"It wasn't just the best opportunity in baseball," Greenberg told FanHouse Sunday. "It's the best opportunity in all of professional sports.

"This franchise is a sleeping giant. We have an amazing amount of talent, and fan enthusiasm is on the rise. The possibilities here are exceptional." Permalink | Email this | Linking Blogs | Comments
