Andre Johnson Reportedly Avoids Suspension for Cortland Finnegan Fight

Filed under:

UPDATE: Andre Johnson and Cortland Finnegan were each fined $25,000 for the fight, with no suspensions for either player.

Andre Johnson will be fined but not suspended for his Sunday fight with Cortland Finnegan, according to a report. The league has yet to announce any definitive discipline for the two players.

Both players -- who have a history of discord -- were ejected from the game after the fight. It began with a shot to Johnson's face by Finnegan at the line of scrimmage and ended with both helmets being removed and punches thrown. Afterward, Johnson apologized for his participation.

"I really don't have anything to say about Cortland. I would like to apologize to the organization, our owner & my teammates. What happened out there today was not me. I just lost my cool and I wish that I could take back what happened, but I can't."
