Vince Young Undergoes Thumb Surgery

Vince YoungVince Young underwent surgery Monday to repair a torn tendon in his right thumb.

Young, the Tennessee Titans' quarterback, was placed on injured reserve last week after he tore a tendon in the thumb - on his throwing hand - in a 19-16 overtime loss to the Washington Redskins the previous weekend.

Titans coach Jeff Fisher said Monday he expects the recovery to take 5-to-8 weeks.

"The thumb will be immobilized, that's the nature of the surgery, just to immobilize the thumb so they can reattach the tendons," Fisher said, adding that it is his understanding a pin is to be placed in Young's hand.
