Filed under: Cowboys, NFC EastThis is hard to believe. Over their 50-plus seasons in the NFL, the Cowboys have faced most of the quarterbacks who have busts in Canton and a few who will once they're retired. But no quarterback ever completed a game against Dallas with a higher passing rating than Jacksonville's David Garrard, who posted a 157.8 rating, just five tenths shy of perfection, in Sunday's 35-17 rout that dropped the host Cowboys to a shocking 1-6.
Garrard completed 17 of 21 passes for 260 yards and a career-high four touchdowns. A year after allowing the NFL's second-fewest points, Dallas is 27th in that key statistic.
"If you told me that we'd be in this situation before the season started, I would've probably cussed you out," said Pro Bowl cornerback Terence Newman. "Now it's a reality and it's something where nobody can comprehend what's going on, except we're just flat out not getting it done."
