Dallas Cowboys Thanksgiving History

Filed under:

The Dallas Cowboys like to consider themselves America's Team. That may or may not be true, but the Cowboys certainly get a lot of national TV attention, including an annual guaranteed slot every Thanksgiving.

The tradition began in 1966, when the Cowboys beat the Browns, 26-14 on Nov. 24, 1966. They've played 42 Thanksgiving games since then (in two years, in 1975 and '77, the St. Louis Cardinals got the spot instead of the Cowboys). In those 42 games, Dallas is 27-14-1. They've got a perfect record in their new stadium, beating the Raiders 24-7 last year.

There have been a number of memorable moments for the team on Thanksgiving. The one you'll be hearing about the most this year came in 1994, known as "The Jason Garrett Game."
