Derrick Rose Improvises Versus Suns to Send Game to Double OT

PHOENIX -- The Bulls came from 23 points down on Wednesday to beat the Suns in double overtime by a final of 123-115. Chicago trailed by as many as 13 in the fourth quarter, before showcasing the kind of lockdown defense that they displayed a night earlier in Los Angeles, which enabled the team to hold the defending champs to just 39.5 percent shooting. Phoenix committed eight of its 14 turnovers on the night in regulation's final period, and was completely stifled offensively to the point of forcing up tough shot after tough shot as the 24-second clock buzzer rang out on seemingly every late-game possession.

The fact that Chicago did this without Taj Gibson, who missed the game due to an ankle injury -- and on the second night of a back-to-back where Derrick Rose and Luol Deng combined to play 104 minutes -- was more than a little impressive. Yet for all of the grit and determination the Bulls showed in fighting to the end, the game's ultimate result wouldn't have gone their way if not for a heady play on Rose's part at the end of the first overtime session.
