Joshua Nesbitt Leaves Virginia Tech Game With Injured Arm, Will Not Return

Filed under: Georgia Tech, Virginia Tech, InjuriesBLACKSBURG, Va. -- Joshua Nesbitt, the most-prolific rushing quarterback in ACC history, attempted three passes Thursday night against Virginia Tech.

It proved to be one too many.

Nesbitt, Georgia Tech's senior quarterback, injured his right forearm (throwing arm) trying to make a tackle following an interception late in the second quarter. He was ruled out for the remainder of the game after being taken to the locker room for X-rays.

It's feared that Nesbitt suffered a broken forearm and could be lost for the remainder of the regular season, according to a FanHouse source. Additional X-rays will be taken upon his return to Atlanta.

With a 71-yard touchdown run in the first quarter, Nesbitt set the career rushing mark for an ACC quarterback. Nesbitt had rushed for 2,720 yards and needed just 42 to break the record held by former Clemson great Woodrow Dantzler. Dantzler had 2,761 rushing yards for the Tigers from 1998-2001.

Nesbitt's 71-yard score was the longest of his career. He also eclipsed 6,000 total yards of offense in his career. Nesbitt, who hadn't missed a snap because of injury this season, had 86 rushing yards on six attempts against the Hokies.

Nesbitt tried to reach back and make the tackle near the sideline following an interception, stretching his arm out. He was replaced at quarterback by Tevin Washington. Permalink | Email this | Linking Blogs | Comments
