Miami Heat Assign Dexter Pittman to NBA D-League's Sioux Falls Skyforce

The Miami Heat have decided to shake up their roster a bit, but it isn't one that's likely to have any baring on the team's on-court performance. The Heat have decided to assign rookie big man Dexter Pittman to the NBA Development League's Sioux Falls Skyforce.

Pittman, a 6-foot-11 center out of the University of Texas, was the 32nd overall selection in this year's NBA Draft, after putting together solid back-to-back seasons for the Longhorns. With Miami's big-man rotation constantly in flux, however, Pittman has been an afterthought for the Heat this season, which makes his assignment to the D-League more of an opportunity to play than anything else.

"That's the whole purpose of me going, to get some game situations up under me," Pittman told The Palm Beach Post's Ethan Skolnick. "I've put in a lot of hard work but it's not right just to throw me out there with the big guys yet. Even though I'm physically ready, I've got to go there and get mentally ready and IQ-wise."
