Raptors Send Ed Davis to D-League for 'Short-Term Rehab Stint'

Ed DavisThe Toronto Raptors assigned second-round pick Solomon Alabi to their NBA D-League affiliate Erie BayHawks last week -- and on Monday, the team announced lottery pick Ed Davis will be joining him in Pennsylvania.

Davis, the 13th pick by the Raptors in this year's NBA Draft, tore the meniscus in his right knee during a pickup game outside of Toronto prior to the start of training camp and was just recently cleared to return to basketball action.

"This is a great opportunity for us to gauge where Ed is physically with regard to his knee and his overall basketball conditioning," Raptors president and general manager Bryan Colangelo said in a press release announcing Davis' assignment. "This is a perfect example where the D-League can be used as a ready-made and convenient tool in getting an injured player back on the court."
