Aldrich had a solid debut against the Jazz, scoring five points and adding two rebounds and a block, but since then he's gone scoreless in five games, looking out of place and lost. He's not out there for offensive purposes, but even still his plus/minus is -11 through five games, so a stint in Tulsa is probably warranted.
Giving a coach like Tulsa's Nate Tibbetts a prospect like Aldrich is scary stuff. Alongside Larry Owens, Marcus Lewis, Zabian Dowdell and Latavious Williams, Aldrich is going to make the 1-1 66ers that much better. For Aldrich, he'll just need to work on his confidence, running through sets, rebounding and getting his feet wet.
It's unknown how long Aldrich's stint will be in the D-League at this time, but the Thunder have been known to send guys down for much of the season to develop. With Nick Collison back with a fresh new extension and Serge Ibaka playing well, the Thunder aren't starved for the 11th overall pick in last June's draft.
Meanwhile, Sherron Collins is currently in the NBA while Cole Aldrich is in the D-League. Who saw that one coming?
