Edson Buddle, Stifling Defense Lead Los Angeles Galaxy over Seattle Sounders

Filed under: MLS, Los Angeles Galaxy, Seattle Sounders FC

Edson Buddle's stunning 38th-minute bomb will be the moment most remembered from Sunday night's playoff game between the Los Angeles Galaxy and Seattle Sounders. If eligible, it would be the favorite for MLS goal of the year.

But it was the other 89 minutes that defined the Galaxy's 1-0 win at Qwest Field. The Supporters Shield winners, picked by many to fall to the in-form Sounders in this Western Conference semifinal series, were more organized, more composed and simply worked harder than the hosts.

The 35,000-plus fans at Qwest didn't faze the Galaxy (19-7-5), which will take a priceless lead back to its own fans in L.A. for the second leg on Nov. 7. Permalink | Email this | Linking Blogs | Comments
