Justin Blackmon, Oklahoma State Receiver, Suspended One Game for DUI

Filed under: Oklahoma State, Big 12, Police BlotterOklahoma State coach Mike Gundy took a day to gather all the information on star receiver Justin Blackmon's DUI arrest and Wednesday came back with the anticipated decision.

Blackmon, 20, will serve a one-game suspension for the situation in which he has admitted to drinking as a minor. He will miss Saturday's game against Kansas State.

The sophomore receiver and three friends attended the Dallas Cowboys' Monday Night Football Game as guests of Cowboys rookie and former OSU star Dez Bryant.

The vehicle Blackmon was driving in the early morning hours Tuesday back to Stillwater, Okla. was clocked going 92 mph in a 60 mph zone in Carrollton, Texas. An officer smelled alcohol in the car and arrested Blackmon. According to Texas law, a driver under 21 can be arrested for having any detectable amount of alcohol in his system.

"I compiled all the information just like I do with any situation that happens outside of our football program," Gundy said following practice Wednesday. "I call it like it is and I make the decision. No one else makes that decision but me. I decide what the punishment will be depending on the situation and I think what took place once I gather all the information. There are no two that are alike. Sometimes the procedure outside of here based on the court system is involved, and sometimes it is not. We are always going to follow the law and, in our opinion, what he did deserves a suspension from this game."
