Alvin Gentry 'Maybe' Sticking With Hakim Warrick as Starter

Filed under:

Hakim WarrickPHOENIX -- Hakim Warrick was moved into the Suns starting lineup on Sunday, after coming off the bench for the team's first 16 games of the season. The decision made sense on paper: Warrick had averaged 24 points and 6.5 rebounds over the two games prior, and Hedo Turkoglu, while recently finding his touch a bit offensively, has struggled on the defensive end -- an area of even greater concern than usual for Phoenix at this point in the year.

But in the smallest of sample sizes -- just the one game against the Nuggets where the Suns gave up 138 points in a losing effort -- it didn't work out so well. Warrick struggled through a 3-of-12 shooting night, and was maybe his own worst critic afterward, saying via his Twitter account, "Boy did I suck 2night ... I'll def be better next game."

He may be better next game, but he may not get the chance to do so as a starter.
